Meg has been a vegan for a few years now and has definitely sussed out which of the plant based milks are the best... Alpro is a big contender. But, she has recently started making her own oat milk that is so simple and so delicious she just has to share.
With just 3 simple ingredients and 3 simple steps you can have your own oat milk in just minutes. No need to head out to the supermarket for your milk anymore.
1 cup oats
3 cups water
1tbsp Maple Syrup - or alternative e.g. honey, dates, chocolate powder
Add the oats, water and maple syrup to a blender and blend for 1 minute
Grab a glass bowl and a cloth/ clean t-shirt/ cheese strainer and cover the bowl with the cloth.
Pour some of the mixture onto the cloth and let it strain through. For quicker results wrap up the cloth and squeeze the milk out using your hands (it gets messy)
Once all the liquid has strained through the cloth, scrape out the left over oats and repeat until all the liquid in the blender is gone.
Decant into a resealable jar and keep in fridge for max 4 days.
